Latest Medical News

I finally saw my Rheumatologist this morning. My results of the echo-cardiogram came back good, but there is some fluid around the lining of my heart (trace fluid). This is typical with Systemic Lupus and is an indicator that I either am recovering from some inflammation or am in the beginning stages of the inflammation. The doctor was sure that it isn't anything to worry about, but I am meeting with my internist and possibly a cardiologist to review the finding. It turns out that another cause other than Lupus that could be the cause for this is Hypothyroidism, which I have been treated for for over 25 years. I am not too worried and this will serve as a base line of where the state of my organs are currently at. We decided not to begin Imuran or Prednisone due to the H1N1 Virus and with me going on a trip in September. If I make it back as well as I can, I will then begin the Imuran. There are terrible side-effects with either route, but I will try. By the time that I get back it will be time to recheck my pulmonary and heart tests to see if they have improved or declined. I should also find out about my bladder infection on Monday. Not looking forward to another 10 days of antibiotics and days without relief. On another hand I had my first 98.6 degree temperature today. I haven't had a regular temp in at least the last two to three months!
