Well, as the story goes on and on regarding my bladder infection...I received the call this morning that after my second course of antibiotics - I still have the infection. The doctor has now increased the level of antibiotic, yet again, without having to go into the hospital for IV. I have now had this infection as best as I can tell since May. I will know in about 10 days if this one has worked. It is really scary how my body isn't reacting positively to antibiotics. I am worried, because I am going to also be taking an immunosupressive medication beginning in October. What will that do to me when trying to fight an infection? I also think that I will need to give in to prednisone. There isn't much else that we can do to try and get me out of this flare. One step at a time.
My family and I had our 10 day follow-up from the accident; for the most part we are doing well. It turns out that my right side of my body took the most damage 1)pulled hamstring 2)pulled muscle/ligaments in my neck 3) shoulder 4) sprained wrist/thumb 5) foot and big toe sprain. Nothing that is life threatening, but just an added discomfort and more narcotic pain medicine. I have been eliminating as much pain medication as possible and then I just got knocked backwards.
On a positive note, when picking up my prescriptions today I had a consult with my pharmacist who also has Lupus. We talked briefly about the antibiotic and my not responding to the previous two and that I cannot take a sulfa based drug. She told me that she has been in remission for quite some time. It was refreshing to see someone look so healthy and actually be in remission. I can't imagine it but I hope that I magically can go into remission someday. In the meantime, I am working hard on not letting my nerves get the better of me and remain as positive as I can given the new aches and pains. I am so thankful that the bumps and bruises that we have from the accident will heal vs. the alternative that we could have been facing. Today is a good day! <3
